IslaGuadalupe Fleet:
Laid-back Adventure on the Odyssey

With tiki flames waving in the cool island breeze, dinner of Caribbean spiced chicken breast with freshly made mango cilantro sauce, complete with coconut rice, and a NY cheese cake dessert, who said shark diving could not be fun?

The Odyssey features all the creature comforts our divers desire for White Shark diving expeditions, and has bunks rooms with privacy bunks in each. Where sleeping accommodations are standard, the rest of the Odyssey is just plain fun. The scene was described by a shark diver from last season “you guys have created Jimmy Buffet goes shark diving here!” Unlike our upscale boat the MV Islander, the Odyssey is primarily designed to cater to younger dive groups, solo divers, singles, couples, and anyone who values a laid back and fun time with high adventure. She is the favorite boat of our CEO Patric Douglas. The Odyssey remains the most spacious cage diving and sport fishing vessel in her class.

Season Update

2004 was a surprising year for us here at Shark Diver. We received confirming reports from an on site dive crew - for the first time - that our White Shark population at Isla Guadalupe is indeed a static or year round population. As a result we are the first and only boat in the fleet to offer cage diving during the entire month of May, 2005. The Ocean Odyssey is the vessel we chose to make these first historic "Voyages of Discovery", and you could be one of the first divers to discover our brand new shark site when you take advantage of May's dates and our exceptional pricing. Why dive when everyone else does? This is the only opportunity to have Isla Guadalupe and the Great Whites all to ourselves; we look forward to seeing you in May!

Expedition Meals On Board

Meals aboard the Odyssey are key to any successful dive expedition. Both individuals and group leaders will be happy to note that we take great pride in taking care of all our divers food needs. The galley is fully equipped for any style of cooking providing divers with a wide range of cuisine. From traditional meals to the freshest fish in the world, meals that cater to religious observance, the Odyssey cuts no corners in efforts to present a truly memorable dining experience. Dietary restrictions are not a problem and the chef looks forward to accommodating your needs. The galley/salon area is spacious with ample room for eighteen passengers at one seating. Complete with TV and VCR/DVD, and internet access at the bridge, the main salon is an excellent place to wind down after a day of incredible shark diving or while en route to Isla Guadalupe. All beverages - including beer and wine - are available at no extra cost. We are proud to feature “Great White Wines” at www.greatwhitewines.com with your meals. This local eco minded company gives back 10% of its total sales to ongoing shark research world wide, and they have a fantastic wine.

Cage Diving Design

Absolute Adventures-Shark Diver has built and deploys two of the largest shark cages on the planet; they are 50 square feet each and provide superior space for our divers and filmmakers. They feature external flotation pods (we were the first to develop deploy this design) allowing for more space and comfort inside our cages. They also feature two unique external observation hatches for film crews who are looking for another angle to film Great White Sharks. In short, one of Absolute Adventures-Shark Diver’s most important considerations is in our cage design and safety. We have produced the best cages available on the West coast to dive with; after all it’s where you and your group will be spending most of your time with us.

Size and Speed

At 85 x 25 feet the Ocean Odyssey is a spacious boat. Odyssey was re-powered in June of 2000 with stroke Cummins N-14 diesel engines. By doing so we have increased her speed which in turn means less travel time and more diving-fishing time! Her size, like the Islander, cuts down on rougher crossings to and from Isla Guadalupe and provides superior diving comfort while on site. The boat has a fresh water tank which is supplemented as needed by a reverse osmosis water maker capable of generating 1600 gallons of water daily. This surplus of fresh water provides all our divers with ample hot water in either of the two main showers aboard or through our hot water deck shower, the perfect way to warm up after a long dive with Great Whites. The Odyssey was refitted in 2003 with a “built in” low pressure air system for our divers; it is one of three boats in the entire fleet to have this system in place. Built in air systems are a must for shark diving and as such we demand them for our divers safety and our peace of mind.

Long Range Fishing

The Ocean Odyssey offers amazing big game fishing included in your expedition pricing. The crew is ready to assist you land one of the monster Tuna and Yellowtail that inhabit the waters around Isla Guadalupe. Last season the world record Yellowtail (96 pounds) was caught at our site in the middle of our shark season. The Odyssey crew can also freeze your catch so you can take it home with you at the end of your expedition with us.

Group Sales
The Odyssey accommodates groups of 16 divers, all group leaders automatically come for free. We are looking forward to providing you and your groups with the vacation of a lifetime, tell our contacts what your needs are and Absolute Adventures-Shark Diver will make it happen for you.
