New Whale Shark Expeditions of Honduras - Shark Diver Lodge
Discover
the shark diving adventure of a lifetime - an encounter with the
ocean's largest shark, the Whale Shark (Rhincodon typus). The new
inclusive "Shark Diver Lodge", located
in the crystal waters of the Caribbean, Honduras is our latest amazing
shark dive destination. Little was known about this site until just
recently, when once again reports from local fishermen and scientists
came in of these magnificent animals just off the coast. We visited
the site in early 2004, where free diving with Whale Sharks truly
is an incredible experience. This is your chance to be one of the
first shark divers to encounter these 30-50 foot leviathans
in 100-foot visibility and all just a short 5-hour average
flight away from the USA. While you're with us, fish for world class
Tarpon, Snook and Bonefish - dive the multitude of regular reefs
surrounding our island, or just sit on the white sands of the Caribbean
and soak up the sun. It's all included.
Shark Diver Lodge - Unlimited Diving
Located just off the coast of Honduras in the warm clear waters
of the Caribbean, our inclusive Shark Diver Lodge features dive
boats for unlimited regular diving along reefs, walls, and open
water pinnacles. Discover fan corals, Groupers, Spotted Eagle Rays
and more. Plus enjoy roomy accommodations in your private tropical
oceanfront rooms, complete with air conditioning, ceiling fans,
and your own private deck where you can swing on your hammock and
enjoy the sunset view after a long day of diving discovery. Our
lodge also features a private white sand beach, private reef, all
meals, basic beverages included, plus amazing fishing out back!
Sand Fix Fridays
On
your last day with us we’ll be running out to the North side
for a final look round for Whale Sharks. The rest of your day will
be spent on a private island we rented out just for you. We call
it “Sand Fix Fridays”. Located in pristine blue waters,
this little island is a small piece of heaven. Gin clear waters
lap up against white sand beaches, with a fringing reef and great
fishing. There’s even a house with running water for showers,
and a full kitchen. There you’ll find our lodge staff busy
making you snacks and lunch, all you have to do is sit back and
relax - we’ll take care of the rest. It is, as far as we know,
the best way to end any vacation. Dinner that night is lobster tails
and steak, who said that shark diving had to be serious? Certainly
not us. See you this year diving with the Leviathans!
Whale Shark Science
As always Absolute Adventures remains true to its commitment of
shark science. After the success of DNA sampling 2003-4 in Guadalupe
(White Sharks) we remain committed to providing shark researchers
with a platform for their use. As such, expect to meet several  researchers
during your 8 day stay with us at the Shark Diver Lodge. They are
currently engaged in tagging/tracking and DNA studies of these little
known leviathans of the deep. Already through satellite tracking,
we know of limited migratory patterns with these animals, though
much more is to be learned. Our researchers will also be offering
slide and video presentations on select nights. It's a wild
adventure out there, come and get it!
